Twig furniture? Are You Sure You Don’t Mean Teak?

Yes, you heard right. I said Twig.

The Twig bench and cube by PINCH is really a homogeneous product. It can either be used as a bench or a great looking coffee table. Wood strip/chips/circles are gaining popularity as components for modern contemporary furniture.

The twig table is also featured in The Style Files amongst other uses for wood in furnishing a modern home (including birch wallpaper!). Click here to view the article from TheStyleFiles. I admire the simplicity in the design of the Twig bench and cube, along with the fact that it uses a good old natural resource, wood, to create a contemporary piece of home furniture. The very next day after the initial post, TheStyleFiles shared a most useful article with DIY instructions on how to create something very similar to PINCH’s variety by remodeling any old table.

Brilliant, isn’t it? Click here to view the full article from TheStyleFiles. However, the instructions are in Dutch but I’m certain it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how it’s done from the pictures above.

Doing this the DIY way will save you:

  • £1,250 for the Twig bench OR
  • £695 for the Twig cube

Sure is worth the trouble, isn’t it?

Looks really cool… before the last set of pics, I thought they had the whole mini-logs and not just the cross-section slices. Still… pretty. :)

the mini-logs is really what makes it doable to most any table you have. At least, this way, you won’t have to worry about structural integrity as you’re really just laying a layer of wood chips over the side of the table to cover the original face. sure beats paying the ticket price of 1250 pounds! :)
i’m thinking maybe i’ll try this out during cny… when i can make use of some mandarin oranges wood crates!!! there really isn’t a table at home i’d like to remodel right now.

It’s nice but when moving the furniture, I am afraid that the sticks might just drop off. Also I need to be careful of the rough edge of the sticks if I were to own this set of furniture. I don’t think I will consider having that furniture at home hehe.
